Special Delight
We are madly in love with our little granddaughter and take special delight in watching her discover new things. Recently we were entertained as she dangled her feet in the cold Atlantic Ocean for the first time. And we especially enjoy watching her try new foods and realize that there is not much that she doesn’t like. We are hoping and praying that she discovers the love of Jesus at a very early age and grows to love and serve Him faithfully.
This reminds us that even as grandparents, we are still discovering new things – whether it is a new route to a familiar place or a new beautiful destination that we’re seeing for the first time. I hope that we never lose that desire to see God’s love and beauty in all things.
Even reading the scripture can continually bring new discoveries. Seeing a note written in the margins of the Bible or a thought written long ago while journaling shows that the same passage can bring new, meaningful impact every time it is read. Some of the best moments we have had with the Lord have been when alone with an extended time set aside for prayer and meditation. He is waiting to show us new discoveries as we spend time with Him, especially when we can get away to a place set up for peace and quiet.
Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” Whatever we are going through, calm or chaos, He will answer us, in His time, with things that will delight and challenge. Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the Earth.” He doesn’t need us for Him to be exalted, but what a privilege and opportunity to magnify the powerful Creator of the universe. May He be exalted and magnified in us today and every day.
